A DISNEY MEDLEY: Animazement

BUT first, the people: Violin 1 - Bengisu Gokce (Istanbul, Turkey) Violin 2 - Heeyeon Ko (Columbus, US) Viola - Gerson Eguiguren (Quito, Ecuador) Cello - Łukasz Pawlikowski (Kraków, Poland) Double Bass - Luis Celis (Maracaibo, Venezuela) Pocahontas - Nicole Kwan (Lake Hiawatha, US) Hercules - Josiah Contreras (Denver, US) Quasimodo - Tuanminh Albert Đỗ (Warsaw, Poland) Recording Engineer - Tuấn Linh Leonard Đỗ (Warsaw, Poland) Videographer - Adam Antenor-Cruz (Silsbee, US) a bunch of other stuff you'll see in the credits anyway - Nicole Kwan -- So, it's here. :D I /love/ stringed instruments. I also love orchestrating. I play all kinds of fretted instruments, but throughout my life I have consistently had difficulty playing orchestral strings ever since I tried playing cello. But I found that if I could not speak my own voice, at least I could write music for strings that could speak for me. (And yes...considering my role in this music video, I see the irony lol.) I also love singing Disney anything, so that's why we're here! Regardless of how long it took, this was such an enjoyable project, not just because it's one of my favorite string arrangements I've done, and not just because the footage looks B O M B (cheers, Adam), but because the people who had taken part have been so kind and fun and bleeding with talent. Here's the cover that inspired me to cover this arrangement since high school (6 years ago, yikes): https://youtu.be/_TuPkbyPOBw Thank you all for listening! (And thank you, performers, for waiting haha.) previously, me exposing my shame: https://youtu.be/Wa7Af68sY3g • • • N I C O H K W A N IG: @nicohkwan TW: @nicohkwan WEB: nicohkwan.com

"Rude" cover by Nicoh Kwan & TJ Richardson

"Rude" originally by MAGIC! We also covered "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley, because we exclusively cover songs whose titles are adjectives with negative connotations. https://youtu.be/GfXqUb7Q35M ✿ Brief backstory to this take. TJ visited me from North Carolina in Boston the month after my Gong Gong passed away. I was still tremendously heartbroken, my motivation was at its lowest, and I was having difficulty finding myself doing anything enjoyable. But singing, in particular, was extremely hard for me to do. I would try to sing or even hum, but after a few seconds, I would break down sobbing. I remember this day. I was _beyond_ unmotivated to do anything creative or expressive. I didn't want to open my mouth because I knew what would come out wouldn't be my best. And I still stand by the fact that it wasn't. Then I saw TJ unpacking the bass. I saw TJ sit on the couch in my living room. I saw TJ. We have talked to each other basically every day since we met almost 9 years ago, but actually, we had not seen each other in person for 6 years. He came all the way from North Carolina to comfort me. Was I really going to let go of an opportunity to play together in person? So, this is our third take, and we got tea afterward. I remember this day being a really good day, because one of my favorite people in the world was in it. ✿ Nicoh Kwan IG: @nicohkwan Spotify: Nicoh Kwan Linktree: https://linktr.ee/nicohkwan TJ Richardson Linktree: https://linktr.ee/tjinf Tiktok: tjinfinat
